The Concept
The Gallery is the architectural and social heart of the Manor, a magnificent space where guests gather for breakfast and afternoon tea amidst grandeur and history. Inspired by the soaring naves of cathedrals and the elegant long galleries of stately homes, it is one of the longest rooms in Ireland, measuring 132 feet in length. Created in the 1830s under the vision of the 2nd Earl of Dunraven, the Gallery is adorned with five remarkable stained glass windows designed by Thomas Willement, heraldic artist to King George IV. These windows narrate the rich heritage of the Quin and Wyndham families, culminating in a striking west window that celebrates the union of the 2nd Earl and Caroline Wyndham. The room’s historic character is further enhanced by a set of 15th-century European carvings, skillfully assembled into a delicate screen-door at the Minstrels’ Gallery. Filled over time with works of art collected on tours of Britain and Northern Europe, the Gallery reflects a legacy of artistry, family pride, and timeless elegance.
