After all, it was Lady Caroline’s great love for her husband, the Earl of Dunraven, which first sparked the inspiration for their great project of building Adare Manor. Their affection and devotion seemed to infuse the house itself. We absolutely love welcoming couples to Adare Manor for a romantic holiday, whether it’s a dream proposal, an anniversary, or just a weekend getaway.

You don’t have to do much to make your time together at Adare Manor special. A fairytale castle, walled gardens brimming with roses, candlelit dinners and champagne … when you are surrounded by so much beauty and opulence, being swept off your feet is almost inevitable. Still, sometimes it helps to arrive with a few ideas in your pocket to dazzle your beloved and make some memories that you’ll both treasure forever. Order chilled champagne in your room on arrival

This is one of those little details that goes a long way. A bottle of champagne underlines that this is truly a special occasion, and signals that you cared enough to plan ahead and arrange a surprise. Sharing a toast and unwinding in your luxurious room together is the perfect way to let the outside world melt away.

Wander through the woodlands together

Walking hand-in-hand in the beautiful grounds of Adare Manor is a recipe for romance, and the Woodland Walk is a particularly lovely spot to spend an hour together, enjoying the peace of the trees. Reflecting pools, poetry, graceful willow sculptures and even the whimsical fairy trail create a lighthearted, playful atmosphere. On a warm, sunny day you can even arrange with our concierge to have a picnic lunch for two prepared to bring with you on your walk.

A special seasonal hint: In a few more weeks, bluebell season will begin, carpeting the forest floor with drifts of heavenly blue from mid March until early May. It’s a particularly magical time to visit with someone special.

Arrange a carriage ride around the grounds

Cuddle up in our new private cinema and lose yourselves in the magic of the movies. Perhaps you’d like to recreate your first date, or just enjoy a favourite film together in luxurious surroundings. If you are thinking of proposing to the love of your life, this can also be a very creative way to pop the question: our staff would be delighted to conspire with you by playing a pre-recorded proposal video on the silver screen!

Enjoy dinner by candlelight on the Oak Room terrace

The Oak Room is a beautiful spot for an intimate dinner for two. For the most romantic atmosphere of all, ask for a table on the terrace. This little colonnade used to be open to the gardens, but is now fully enclosed in glass. Once the sun sets, the soft glow of candlelight takes over, creating a magical atmosphere. Head Chef Michael Tweedie’s tasting menu is the stuff of culinary dreams, leading you on a journey through Ireland’s distinctive food landscapes. It really is a feast for the senses, and a meal that will linger in your memories long after the last bite is gone.

Treat them to a rose petal turn down

After of a wonderful day together, you can delight your sweetheart with one more surprise. Fresh rose petals and a perfectly turned down bed. This is such a thoughtful touch, and a lovely way to end the evening.
