Adare Manor scoops Silver Standard Green Hospitality Award
As we become increasingly aware of the importance of recycling and implementing certain ‘green’ methods in our daily routines, the efforts made by those in the hospitality industry to limit wastage and become more eco-friendly are being rewarded. Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort was recently awarded the Silver Standard Green Hospitality Award.
The management team at Adare Manor have made significant changes to the operational management of the hotel in order to implement the requirements laid out by the Board. This has been recognised by their Silver Standard Award, acknowledging that “the business has moved beyond the basics and has developed their environmental management programme in all areas”.
The Manor, as one of the leading Hotel & Golf Resorts in the world, has made implemented changes so as to become more environmentally friendly and urges other members of the hospitality industry to do the same. Marketing Executive with Adare Manor, Sarah Stuart-Trainor said, “It was a team effort. We’ve all been dedicated to finding new ‘green’ processes in the day-to-day running of the resort and we have been successful. The management team have also noticed that implementing these measures have resulted in lowering costs, which is excellent. It has made us all more aware and we will be continuing our efforts.”
The Green Hospitality Awards, previously known as the Green Fáilte Awards, are the brainchild of Cork County Council and the Clean Technology Centre and is an environmental certificate awarded to hotels and restaurants, which prove their commitment to the environment by fulfilling a number of key requirements. The award is granted based on performance in implementing an Environmental Management Systems, Waste Management, Water Management and Energy Management. Green Hospitality participants are audited by independent auditors who examine the performance of the hospitality business. These audits ensure that the hospitality industry is meeting its requirements and is acting responsibly with respect to the environment.
