Located on 840 acres of formal gardens and parkland, the resort offers a variety of accommodation options, including the architectural masterpiece that is the Manor House, as well as luxury villas and family-friendly townhouses. An incredible range of outdoor activities, from golfing on a championship course that’s considered one of the finest in Ireland to fishing, horseback riding, archery, clay shooting, and falconry recall the lifestyle and leisure pursuits of the country squire who originally built the Manor House. After a day of vigorous activity, guests can enjoy pampering treatments at the Treatment Rooms and some of the finest dining in Ireland.
A fairy tale manor house in a storybook setting offering award winning accommodations and 5-star hospitality.
Adare Manor is located in the picturesque village of Adare, County Limerick.
The hotel is the perfect base for exploring the major attractions of southwest Ireland, including the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, Killarney Lakes, Dingle Peninsula and Blarney Castle. Limerick city is a 15-minute drive and Shannon International Airport is a 25-minute drive from the estate.
Adare Manor was originally built for the Second Earl of Dunraven and his wife, Lady Caroline Wyndham. Begun in 1832, the magnificent structure provided labor for the surrounding villagers during the terrible potato famine that devastated the country during the mid-19th century. Though Lady Caroline went to great lengths to establish the myth that Adare Manor was planned entirely by her husband without an architect, it is fairly certain today that much of the design work was done by James Pain who, along with AW Pugin and PC Hardwick, had been commissioned to design numerous public buildings and country homes. The actual construction was supervised by James Connolly, a local mason. Sadly Lord Dunraven did not live to see his dream Manor finished in 1862.
The estate remained in the Dunraven family until 1982,when it was sold to an investment consortium. In 1987 the Thomas F Kane family of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, acquired the Manor. The delicate and detailed restoration was completed in 1988 transforming Adare Manor into one of Ireland’s most renowned manor hotels.
The Manor House is replete with curious eccentricities such as the turreted entrance tower at one corner rather than in the centre and the elaborate decoration found in the arches, gargoyles, chimneys and bay windows are miracles of stonework, but most intriguing of all is its arrangement as a “calendar house” with 365 stained glass windows for each day of the year, 52 chimneys for each week of the year, 7 pillars in the lobby for each day of the week and 4 towers for each season.
The interior spaces are designed on a grand scale.
One of the most renowned interior spaces is the Minstrel’s Gallery, a 132 foot long, 26-½ foot high expanse inspired by the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles and lined on either side with 17th Century Flemish Choir Stalls.
Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort offers a wide variety of accommodation styles to suit your needs — from grand hotel guestrooms and suites to private villas and apartment-style townhouses.
The Manor House guestrooms are the most exclusive accommodation on the resort property. Food plays a role of cardinal importance at the Manor. Chef heads up a young and enthusiastic culinary team. In the Oakroom Restaurant a contemporary Irish approach is melded with strong classical influences. Dishes and flavours change with the seasons, as Chef endeavors always to source and cook local produce. Roughly 300 wines are cellared at any one time and wine lists are constantly updated to include recent acquisitions.
The Oakroom is a beatutiful space overlooking the river but its accompanying colonnade is perhaps the most enchanting dinner setting in the country. Illuminated only by candlelight, diners sit under a panoply of high and bas reliefs carved from red limestone. Fruit hoarding monkeys and squirrels, heraldic arms and crowned heads keep company with a howdah bearing elephant.
Afternoon tea is available in the Drawing Room, and there is an in-room menu for guests who wish to dine in seclusion. Below stairs, the Tack Room Bar stays open deep into the night.
The fine-dining experience focuses on the very best in haute cuisine present by Executive Chef Mark Donohue, complemented by the finest wines from the extensive cellar, in a candle-lit setting overlooking the French formal gardens with views of the river Maigue. Chef Donohue, who is considered a rising star in the culinary world, also offers Chef’s Tasting Menus featuring ingredients that he sources from locally.
Open nightly for dinner from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
Situated in the elegant Golf Clubhouse, the Carriagehouse Restaurant offers a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where one can enjoy a tantalizing meal experience while appreciating views of the putting green and manicured gardens. Outdoor dining on the garden patio is available during the summer months. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A warm and welcoming setting for enjoying a snack, an Irish coffee or sumptuous afternoon tea, The Drawing Room serves traditional English Afternoon Tea from 2 –5 pm, a light menu from 12-5:30 pm, and cocktails from until 11 pm.
In one of the oldest parts of the hotel, the Tack Room is the favourite spot for guests to gather in the evenings to listen to the resident musician, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and have a drink in front of the open fireplace.
Open nightly from 9:00 pm to the early hours of the morning.
An extensive room service menu is available 24 hours a day for enjoying breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or simply a bottle of wine in the privacy of your room.
One of Ireland’s top golf destinations, the resort features an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. that has gained international acclaim as one of his finest creations. The course, which measures 7,453 yards from the championship tees, is a majestic design with rock-walled streams, subtle undulating putting surfaces with the Jones signature cloverleaf bunkers. A 14-acre lake dominates the front nine holes while the back nine is routed through wooded land. Adding beauty to all of this, the River Maigue meanders through the course creating a sense of beauty and challenge.
Overlooking the formal gardens and parkland golf course, The Treatment Rooms at Adare Manor were created as a sanctuary for pampering, relaxation and revitalization. A team of expert therapists provide a full range of massage, body, facial and beauty treatments featuring Elemis spa products.
The Fitness Room is fully equipped with free weights, Nautilus equipment, treadmill, Stairmaster and lifecycles. Complimentary water and fruits are provided. Open daily 7:00 am – 9:00 pm.
Adjacent to the Fitness Room and overlooking the River Maigue, is a 15-meter heated indoor swimming pool and steam room, with changing rooms and locker facilities.

Start the tour in the French-style gardens at the front of the Manor, which lead visitors onto a path of lush parklands beyond. Look for the estate’s notable Lebanese Cedar tree, believed to be almost 400 years old, the oldest of its kind in the British Isles and the pet cemetery, where a number of the Dunraven family pets are buried.
