Fleadh by the Feale
Abbeyfeale 29 April 2010 - 03 May 2010
- Fleadh in the town of Abbeyfeale in Co. Limerick on the May Bank Holiday This Fleadh just gets bigger and better. It is a weekend that any organising committee would be proud of; it brings together traditional Irish musicians from all over Ireland, Europe and America no less who set Abbeyfeale alight over the bank Holiday weekend. Particular focus and interest is evident in the bones playing competition on the Monday night which draws a huge crowd to the platform in the square in Abbeyfeale and truly you would be amazed at the skill and dexterity of the competitors who have ranged from five years of age to the young age of seventy. The Fleadh committee also caters for the artistic side and is involved with the local schools in running an art competition and they also provide opportunities for story tellers to come and share their pearls of wisdom!! This weekend is for everybody; those blessed with talent and ability to play an instrument or sing and those who have an appreciation of traditional Irish music in its purest form. People of all ages come to share their talent with the folk of Abbeyfeale and in return the town guarantees you a warm West Limerick welcome.
